A growing number of schools, however, are replacing traditional homework with learning logs: a more creative and open-ended solution which not only appeals more to children, but also helps them learn. What is a learning log?

Learning Logs encourage a partnership between home and school. As Learning Logs are personalised there is no right or wrong way to approach a task. They give children ownership of their work. Children can be as creative and imaginative as they like. Learning Logs can be a useful revision tool for children, especially in year 6.

Students will be given a homework log each Monday to complete throughout the week. This will include a minimum of 20 minutes of reading per night, math fact practice and spelling practice throughout the week. Additionally, students will have an additional piece of homework that fits the curriculum being covered in class during the week.
